S.U.P.E.R. Club (Students Understanding Philanthropy and Educating Relationships)Calvin Coolidge once stated, "No person was ever honored for what he received. Honor has been the reward for what he gave." Keeping this principle in mind, our school wanted to share the joy of giving without expectation of return with our students. Living in an economically deprived district, many students of Sadler Arts Academy have felt the impact of charitable giving, but do not realize the joy that helping others has to offer. Thus evolved the S.U.P.E.R. Club., a group of sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students that want to share love through assisting others. This student-led club meets twice a month. Projects have included a school-wide food drive, school beautification and recycling projects, community clean-up for local historic homes, and student-led lessons on the effects of littering. Future planned projects include a school art competition benefiting local hospitals, local park clean-ups, and eventually an anti-bullying assembly. Through these philanthropies, both in school and in the community, students learn the values of charity, teamwork, fairness, honesty, responsibility, and their impact on the world around them.
