Random Acts of Kindness Buddy ActivityStudent Leaders meet once a month to plan character related activities. They planned an assembly that had a video news story, skits and games to show how to do random acts of kindness. They also incorporated the home side and buddy activity for the month into the theme. The buddy activity began with a book, Somebody Loves You, Mr. Hatch. Students discussed with buddies ways they could show random acts of kindness and then wrote them on a heart. All the hearts were put in a container and each student chose a heart at the end of the lesson. Then, students individually performed that random act of kindness within a week. A week later students wrote a letter to their buddy to explain to them how performing that act went. Letters and hearts were displayed outside classrooms as reminders of the caring things we can do every day for others.
