Principal's Book of the MonthThe Principal's Book of the Month was implemented during Hunt Club's first year of operation in order to unite the school with a shared learning experience. At the same time, encouraging service to others is an important aspect of the school's character education program. Following Oswego District #308's commitment to the Character Counts! program, which already established in the community, allowed the Hunt Club staff the opportunity to emphasis ways the school and community can work together to make a difference. The Reading Specialist, School Social Worker and teachers selected books to represent the 6 character pillars. When possible, books were selected based on the availability of a Spanish edition to accommodate our Dual Language program. All classrooms read the same book, particpate in discussions and work together to support a community service project. The service project of the month was tied into the character lesson, and particpation was encouraged through Home and School and student initiatives. A follow-up assembly summarizes the important lessons learned through the book.
